MyLOFT help and FAQs

MyLOFT (My Library on Fingertips) is an app and web platform that gives you access to all the library's electronic resources (e-books, e-journals and databases) anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a MyLOFT account?

Check whether the library has already created an account for you; if so, you will have received an email from MyLOFT. If not, register with your institutional email through the sign-up page provided by the library. You may receive a verification link by email to activate your account.

How do I log in to MyLOFT?

Go to the MyLOFT login page through the e-resources link on the library website, or download the MyLOFT mobile app. You can also use the direct link app.myloft.xyz. Enter your institutional email and the password you created.

What can I access through MyLOFT?

All the e-resources the library subscribes to (e-books, scholarly journals, research databases and more) in one place.

Can I use MyLOFT off campus?

Yes. MyLOFT is designed for both on-campus and remote access. Just log in and use the resources wherever you are.

How do I install the MyLOFT browser extension?

Download the extension from the MyLOFT dashboard and follow the instructions to add it to Chrome or Microsoft Edge. It helps you open full-text articles even when you are searching on Google or other websites.

Why do I need the browser extension?

It lets you access subscription content across publisher websites, capture and save articles directly to your MyLOFT library, and log in automatically through institutional access.

Can I use MyLOFT on my phone?

Yes. Download the MyLOFT app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and log in with your account.

Why is a VPN required to access content through the mobile app?

A VPN is needed only if access to subscribed resources is restricted to campus IP addresses. It simulates on-campus access when you are off campus.

How do I save articles or e-books for offline reading?

Use the Save or Bookmark feature. Saved content appears in your Library tab for offline reading.

How do I organise articles in a collection?

In the mobile app, go to the collection and tap Edit or Organize, then drag to reorder or assign tags. In the browser, open the collection, click Organize or Edit Collection, then drag and drop or group by tags and topics.

What if I forget my MyLOFT password?

Click Forgot Password? on the login page and follow the instructions. If you still have trouble, contact the library.

What if I don't receive the MyLOFT welcome email?

Check your spam or promotions folder and search your inbox. Ask library staff to confirm your email address was uploaded correctly. You can also go to the MyLOFT page, click Sign up and fill in your details; the library will then activate your account.

Is MyLOFT free?

Yes. The library provides MyLOFT and the e-resources free of charge.

Who do I contact if I have problems with MyLOFT?

Email library@riarauniversity.ac.ke or call 0703 038 328. Include details of the problem, such as error messages or screenshots, for faster help.
